This is a wedding picture of James Logan "Loggie" McWhirter and Ina Amanda Dyer, my maternal grandparents, taken on their wedding day in 1905. I am very impressed with your website. Please let me know if I can add any information. I know that Janet Isobel McWhirter, who married Robert Cornfield, gave birth to a baby girl "Maggie" and Janet died during the birth. Maggie was raised by her grandparents, Gilbert and Margaret. She would have been born sometime around 1913.

Hello,
I love the new and improved website!
I came across an old photo today. It was taken about 75 years ago. On the back it says "Billy Woodman (youngest son of Boyd and Minna Woodman, brother of Gerald) and baby Ruby D.M. Robertson (my aunt). It was taken at the Mowatt House in Maria, Quebec.
If anyone is interested in this photo, please let me know and I will scan and email it.
Stephanie

Stumbled onto your website while searching a Mcwhirter name...great site!!! My mother was Edith Margaret Mcwhirter Martin, her father was Nelson William Mcwhirter, his parents John Mcwhirter and Martha Hardy. Your site lists his parents as David Leon McWhirter and Jesse Campbell, so I am a bit confused. I'm currently looking for Isabel Mcwhirter, daughter of John Mcwhirter and Sarah J. Long, coming up with a dead end. Any suggestions? Also, one of John Mcwhirter's wives was from the six nations reserve. Is there any research database for the native population in the Black Cape area? Thx, Ruth M

The picture is of my oldest son, Michael, born March 17, 1980. I, Dan, was born 09/02/1947 in Loma Linda, California. My grandfather, Ronald Warner Woodman, was born somewhere in New York State in 1906. He married Ellen Cole about 1924 in Michigan State, I think. My Father,Robert Glenn Woodman, was born in Michigan in 1925 and married Damaris [maybe Gladys or Bette officially] Lawton in 1946 in Michigan. Since my grandfather came from New York, there might be some tie there. There are many Woodman's in the western US, many of them had ancestors who came from NE US. Thanks, Dan Woodman
Ron Woodman:
Hi Dan,
Thanks for writing in the Guest Book. I've gone through my data base and I don't have a record of you, your grandfather nor your father. I have a copy of a book written by Eloise Woodman called "Descendants of Captain John Woodman, the Man from Oyster River". I couldn't find them in her book either. She mentions in her book, another, written by Helen D. Woodman called "The Woodmans of Rhode Island". There are other Woodmans who came to America and are not known to be related to Edward and many of them went west. I hope you have better luck that we do in tracing your ancestors. We come to a brick wall with Jonathan.

I am a Woodman, a yankee Woodman, but never the less a Woodman. I am the son of Edgar James Woodman (d) son of Chester Roy Woodman (d), son of Oscar Woodman (d)and several other Woodman's up Jonathan Woodman and thats where My research ends. All in the the New England area, and May have come from candana, In fact My father spoke of having cousins in canada and going to the family farm. He is passed away now and I'm going to have to finish this the hard way. Any help I could surely use. Thank You Arthur.
Ron Woodman:
Hi Arthur,
Sorry, but I don't have any of the Woodman's that you named, in my data base.
I have a book that was written by Eloise Woodman and published in 1998. It is called " Descendants of Captain John Woodman, The Man from Oyster River". In her book there is only one Arthur Woodman. I've attached a copy of the page where he is mentioned. On the same page there is mention of an Oscar Woodman.
I too am looking for Jonathan Woodman who came to the Gaspé coast during the American Revolution. So far, I haven't been able to find any other information on him.
Good luck

We are related through the Dickau branch of your family. Jacob and Anna Witting (Prussia to Wisconsin) had 11 children. Hannah/Anna Witting married Johann Dickau (parents Paul Dickau and Katherine Werner) 3 Nov 1878 in Wahoo, Sanders, Nebraska, USA. Would love to hear from anyone who is related!
Trish Forte' (nee Dickau):
Hi I just found you through Google. Johann Dickau and Anny Witting were my Great Grandparents on my father's side, Johann's son, Herman August Dickau was my grandfather. Would love to hear where you fit into the HUGE family tree. I am researching the connection to Jesse James, Herman Dickau married Beulah Mae Webster and her mother's mother was Jesse's second cousin (or so we hear). Trish Forte trish4tay@aol.com
